Brands need advertising that does the job effectively, without going over budget – and that’s where display board printing comes in! Rigid media boards (like paper-based Re-board and PVC Foamex) can be directly printed on to ensure your designs are vibrant, eye-catching, and almost impossible to miss.

But how are today’s famous brands using display board printing to advertise? Read on for the most effective ways, and who knows? You might just get inspired to use them in your next promotion.

Indoor signage

A display board made from rigid media, used for indoor signage and messaging.

Whether for short-term activations or year-long messaging, board signs give you a quick and versatile way to advertise. Combined with a head-turning design and in-your-face text, they can transform a shop floor into an attractive and persuasive space. That’s why display boards are often used to direct customers towards the latest deals, as well as the hot new products.

A product like Foamex (or foam PVC) is both durable but lightweight, and it’s also one of the more cost-effective options around – perfect for interior decorating. Alternatively, you could try mounting KAPA foam board, which is just as affordable and doesn’t need lamination.

Cut-outs and standees

A cut-out or standee made from a type of rigid display board.

A freestanding cut-out is a surefire way to make your campaign a bit more personal. In fact, many brands use celebrity cut-outs for familiarity and a touch of glamour. We’ve seen (and produced) standees of cartoon characters and original designs too, all in the name of bringing campaigns to life.

Display board cut-outs are known to increase engagement, especially with young people who love to share interesting things online. If your design’s strong, they’ll soon be sharing your rigid board character with their friends and followers, essentially advertising for you.

You can make flat standees and custom totems out of various display boards, including Bubble board (Triaprint), Libra display board, and PVC foam. Re-board can even be used to build 3D structures and furniture!

Enchanting window displays

A fashionable window display, made from sustainable rigid media, known as Re-board.

Window displays with the ‘wow factor’ can grab passers-by and get them in the door. A staple of high streets in the festive season, these displays can either be themed to the time of year or used to promote a new product range. In retail, they usually combine mannequins with printed backdrops to support the products on show.

Because window displays are safe from the elements, you can use any type of rigid media available, but in our experience, Re-board is a great choice when you’re looking for something sustainable. That’s what Vivienne Westwood used for their multi-location window display.

Information & sharable messaging

Promoting awareness is about spreading information quickly through simple messaging. It can be as basic as a ‘buy 1 get 1 free’ sign or an informative rigid board telling people how to enter a competition. Your board could feature bullet points, imagery, a web address, or a scannable QR code to boost customer engagement – whatever you need to get the point across.

Board signs are the perfect choice here, but if you’d rather cover a whole wall with a seamless design, then it might be worth looking at wall graphics. We’ve even created an installation guide just for the occasion.

Outdoor advertising

An outdoor display board, perhaps made from aluminium Di-bond.

Did you know that some display boards can be used outside? It’s true! The UK’s weather is notoriously wet and changeable, but certain boards can even be displayed for years at a time. In turn, you can grab a shopper long before they’ve reached your premises; just be sure to choose the right size, attractive imagery, clear text and colours that pop!

Correx and acrylic boards can both be used outside, but nothing lasts quite as long as Di-bond aluminium. Resistant to moisture and physical abrasion, it’s often the best choice for outdoor displays.

Logos and decoration

A 3D display board, built to form a bright green logo.

Whether you own the brand or just work in marketing, you want the company logo to stand out and be instantly recognisable. Display boards empower you to take your logo and place it wherever you like, making it easy to switch things up on the fly to suit events, promotions and more.

While all display boards are simple to mount on a wall, only acrylic allows for transparency. This is great when you want your logo on an actual brick backdrop, or when you want to layer designs for a unique effect. Check out our guide to reverse printing for acrylic printing options, and to see the difference between spot and flood white printing.

Exhibition panels

If you’re attending an exhibition, then you need something slim, lightweight and easily transported. It should also support your goal, whether that’s to attract a crowd or encourage guests to get involved. Rigid media boards can do all of this in spades, helping brands reach audiences in creative ways. All you need is a good idea and a trusted supplier!

With display board printing, you can decorate your stand however you like. For more advice, please see our article on attracting crowds to your exhibition stand.
